Pro Bono Activities

The rising inequality of power and wealth is a major global issue with its impacts on the access right to justice; especially for them whose face severe inequality in resources.
This inequality can be a major barrier to attaining legal remedies because face whose are able to employ teams of lawyers to use all available procedural hurdles to their clients’ advantage, or simply to drag out cases until the resources of their adversaries are exhausted.
In response to the narrowing of access to justice and inequality of legal and money resources, Lawhouse took the pro bono commitment. We help the poor through allowing resources and by searching for effective legal tools, because it is difficult for many of them to seek for the state legal assistance in despite of they have right to.

Our Commitment

We are dedicated to CSR & Human rights and to provide our clients with the most recent updates within the field. Our voluntary pro bono work gives us a unique position to follow international developments, and to create the best solutions. For that, we are leading among Algerian law firms in the scope of pro bono activities performed.
Our pro bono work includes all human rights work and discrimination suits, Social Security, consumer, children and family matters, in both hearings and appeals. We do not regard matters referred to us by the Algier's Bar Association concerning the free defense as part of our pro bono activities.
Our commitment includes also training of young lawyers as well as advising and assisting nonprofit community groups, also in non-litigation areas.

Moreover, we perform pro bono work in the following organizations:

  • The Arab Commission for Humain Rights
  • The Algerian League of Defense of Human Rights
  • The Bar Association of Algiers

We strongly believe that pro bono legal activity is both in the public interest, as well as in the professional interest of our attorneys. Accordingly, we actively sponsor and encourage participation in pro bono work. In evaluating the performance of associates, time devoted to pro bono activities is equally valued as time spent on matters involving our other practice areas.
Thus, our pro bono efforts are in addition to the statutory legal aid (Legal Aid).
